Monteporzano
is situated in the country around the medieval town
of Orvieto, in the centre of a large estate of olive
groves and chestnut trees. It has a breathtaking position
with a spectacular view over the surrounding landscape
and the tufa rocks of Orvieto. The pool has postcard
view's of Orvieto's famous Duomo.
The estate
belongs to the ancient noble family Fiumi di Sterpeto
originating from Assisi, who moved to Orvieto a couple
of centuries ago.
Monteporzano was built in the1800 and is designed
in the same fashion as many of the important villas
of that century, with wonderful ancient frescoes and
decorations on ceilings and walls. It has recently
been restored with all the modern comforts while keeping
the charm of the original structure. Inside its walls,
you can feel the atmosphere of the 19th century. The
villa is furnished with spectacular family antiques
that have been handed down form gerneration to generation
The Villa
is 500 square meters and is divided into two floors
with a large and easy staircase. The materials used
thoughout the villa are all authentic and there are
hand-made: “cotto” in all rooms. Carrara
marble decorates the entrance hall and the main stairscase
and the bathrooms have been designed using hand-painted
tiles from Vietri (Naples) with wonderful decorations
of flowers or geometric designs traditionally used
in the 1800's.
A wide
and luxurious fenced garden with century-old trees
and ancient roses surrounds the Villa, giving the
guests the possibility of enjoying an exclusive and
relaxed stay: it is equipped with tables, chairs,
armchairs.
Just outside
the main Villa's gardens there is a large well appointed
swimming pool for quest use.The pool area has a shady
equipped veranda and is surrounded by a rose garden
and olive grooves, by which the Fiumi produce an excellent
organic extra virgin olive oil. The pool has a fantastic
view towards the tufa rocks of the town of Orvieto
and the Duomo.
